848 TEAM

Michael Medina

Michael Medina founded 848 Enterprises, Inc. in 2009. He serves as the company’s President/ CEO.

Medina’s high regard for the entertainment business grows from being exposed to music at early age, by his father a musician who performed with Salsa greats Yomo Toro, Hector la Voz, and Celia Cruz. As one of NYC’s orignal “B-Boys,” in the 80’s Medina was a member of the legendary B-Boy crew the Scramblin Feet Rockers, renowned for their legendary battles with the Rock Steady Crew at the world famous Roxy, as well as being a founding member of the graffiti crew “The GTF Crew” kings of the J, M, and RR subway lines.

In the early 90’s Medina ventured into fashion, teaming with clothing designer Dontay Wilder (Rocawear, Akademkis, PNB, Mecca, PRPS), to create “On Point Clothing” an urban apparel boutique in the LES (Lower East Side). OnPoint Clothing branched into OnPoint Recording Studios, a popular destination for underground and multi platinum recordings artists, eventually growing into 848, a label with talent touring throughout Europe and the U.S. with Hip Hop artist M1 of Dead Prez, Talib Kwele, and the Beatnuts. Medina and Dontay Wilder will soon launch Washed & Destroyed, a high-end denim line.

Other endeavors will include art projects and installations with graffiti crews, SOE TNS and LAROCK (one of several former street collaborators of the celebrated late artist, Keith Haring). Medina, who hails from the LES (Lower East Side), a cultural hub for the avant-garde and latest trends, contributing to the evolution of urban culture for decades, explains “There’s nothing like the LES, and I’m proud to have been born and bred in one of the most creative hotbeds of the City. I seek to contribute with a socially responsible business that helps the next generation of urban youth. As 848 Enterprises continues to grow and expand, I hope to provide the outlet and support within my capacity to ensure that our youth have positive platforms for creative expression and success.”
